Atomos Shogun Flame 4K Monitor/Recorder
At Lightbulb Rentals, the Atomos Shogun Flame is a 7-inch, 1920 x 1200 on-camera recording monitor designed to combine 4K recording capabilities with a 10-bit FRC panel. This monitor supports native display of HDR (log) footage and offers high brightness for Rec. 709 viewing. It features 4K HDMI and 12G-SDI inputs for clean output signals up to UHD 4K (3840 x 2160), recorded onto 2.5″ SSDs in 10-bit, 4:2:2 Apple ProRes and Avid DNxHR codecs. Additionally, it supports DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) raw video streams over SDI from select Sony and Canon cameras, encoding them as ProRes/DNxHR files.
The Shogun Flame employs 10-bit FRC processing and AtomHDR display technology, offering a 10-stop brightness range. This capability allows accurate monitoring of log gamma footage without the need for LUTs, maintaining fidelity between viewing and recorded footage. Built-in presets accurately translate popular log formats from Sony, Canon, Panasonic, ARRI, RED, and JVC cameras for consistent monitoring.
Beyond HDR, the monitor includes a High-Bright mode for Rec. 709 monitoring, utilizing its full 1500 cd/m² brightness for confident viewing in bright outdoor conditions. In HDR mode, a snap-on sun hood (included) is necessary to optimize brightness.
Built for durability, the Shogun Flame features protective armor with silicone-covered corners and chamfered edges. Upgraded with dual Sony L-Series battery plates, it supports hot-swapping for extended run times. Audio recording capabilities include balanced XLR inputs with +48V Phantom Power via an included audio breakout cable. Additional features include Genlock / LTC input, SDI/HDMI cross-conversion, and various onscreen tools for exposure analysis, framing, and focus assistance. The package includes an AC adapter, Master Caddy II 2.5″ drive enclosure, and a zippered travel case for storage and transport protection.
