Jet is Superior's true black, a deep matte roll that turns a studio corner into infinite darkness. It is the foundation of low-key portraiture, dramatic product photography for spirits, watches, and electronics, fine-art dance and physique work, and video interviews with that premium documentary look. Because the surface is non-reflective, it eats stray light and holds its void even on tight sets.

Jet is effectively immune to color temperature, photographing identically under tungsten and daylight LEDs, which makes it the most forgiving roll in the building for mixed lighting. Separation is everything: rim and hair lights carve subjects from the black, and rich colors, metallics, and pale wardrobe all read boldly against it. Its enemy is debris, since dust, lint, and footprints flash pale against the dark field, so keep a lint roller and broom close and cut away the walked-on section before it reads on camera.

The 107-inch by 36-foot roll is the full-width studio standard, giving you nearly nine feet of paper: enough for full-length fashion and portrait work, seated groups of two or three, dancers in motion, and larger product setups with room to sweep the paper forward across the floor. It is the width most rental studios keep on the wall for good reason, covering the vast majority of people-photography jobs. Smaller headshot and tabletop work can step down to the 53-inch roll, but if subjects will ever stand up, this is the width to own.

When the sweep gets scuffed mid-shoot, you do not clean it, you cut it: trim away the used section and unroll a fresh, perfect surface in under a minute. It mounts on any standard backdrop stand or wall-mounted roller system, making color changes and refreshes fast even for a single shooter.
