The exaggerated depth makes for a narrower beam than a standard umbrella, while still retaining some of an umbrella's wrap around qualities. Additional control can be achieved by fine-tuning the "focus" of the beam by varying the flash head's position along the umbrella's shaft. The 16-rib design, coupled with the reflective silver interior, results in a crisp even beam at all head positions.
