Hoya Variable ND (77mm)

The Hoya Variable Density filter from Lightbulb Rentals employs two polarizing layers to regulate the amount of light passing through to the camera lens. At its minimum effect, the filter allows 1/3 of the light through, equivalent to reducing exposure by 1.5 stops. At maximum effect, it permits just 1/400 of the light, equal to a reduction of 9 stops.

Adjusting the filter ring between 'Min' and 'Max' enables precise control over light transmission. With the Hoya Variable Density filter, photographers can shoot wide open with fast lenses like a 50mm f/1.4 even in bright sunlight for shallow depth of field, or extend shutter speeds to capture artistic motion blur effects on water, cars, and people.

Crafted from high-quality optical glass by Hoya Corporation, the world's largest optical glass manufacturer, this filter is available in sizes ranging from 52mm to 82mm. For optimal results, Hoya recommends using a tripod when shooting with slow shutter speeds.
