RED Digital Cinema Gemini 5K S35 Package

Daily $1,000.00
Weekly $3,000.00

The RED DIGITAL CINEMA DSMC2 BRAIN with GEMINI 5K S35 Sensor, available at Lightbulb Rentals, is part of the unified 2018 DSMC2 lineup, offering a versatile platform for creative storytelling. Its standard DSMC2 form factor allows seamless attachment of accessories from RED and other manufacturers, enabling customizable setups tailored to your filmmaking needs.
Despite having fewer photosites compared to HELIUM and MONSTRO sensors, the GEMINI sensor utilizes advanced aerospace-inspired circuitry to switch between native sensitivities. This capability allows it to excel in both well-lit and low-light conditions, maintaining detail in highlights and minimizing noise respectively. The DSMC2 system supports a wide range of lenses, offering nearly limitless options for cinematic expression.
REDCODE RAW remains the preferred format for DSMC2 cameras, leveraging wavelet compression to preserve image quality while reducing data rates. This codec facilitates direct editing in numerous NLE software programs without the need for transcoding. Alternatively, simultaneous ProRes or DNx recording to MINI-MAG media supports proxy workflows. Lowering recording resolution enables high-frame-rate capture for impactful slow-motion sequences, achieved through sensor windowing that may necessitate adjustments in lens selection.
The GEMINI 5K Super35 sensor features dual sensitivity modes: Standard mode for typical shooting scenarios and Low Light mode for enhanced sensitivity with minimal noise increase.
Central to RED’s workflow, REDCODE RAW employs wavelet compression ratios from 2:1 to 22:1, balancing storage efficiency with raw file versatility. Supported by leading NLE software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Avid Media Composer, REDCODE RAW simplifies post-production processes by allowing direct import and editing of footage. Capture frame rates range from 12 fps upwards, including standard cinematic rates and options for high-speed recording.
