Purple gaffer tape is the color you choose when you need a mark that cannot be mistaken for anyone else's. Black, white, red, and yellow rolls are on every truck, which means their meanings blur across departments. Purple is rare enough on set that when a camera assistant, key grip, or gaffer claims it, every strip of it instantly reads as theirs. This one-inch roll delivers that distinctiveness with all the working qualities of proper cloth gaff.
Crews put purple to work anywhere ownership and identity matter. Wrap a band around your personal C-stands, cables, and cases so your kit walks back to the right truck at wrap. Assign purple to one camera body in a multi-cam build so its media, batteries, and cables never cross-pollinate with another unit. Use it as the dedicated mark color for a particular actor or set piece when the standard spike colors are already spoken for. On shared stages where three productions store gear side by side, a purple flag on a stinger settles arguments before they start.
Functionally, this is true matte cloth gaffer tape. It tears cleanly by hand in both directions, conforms over irregular surfaces, holds hard through a long day, and peels away without leaving adhesive behind on floors, walls, or powder-coated stands. The matte finish keeps it from flaring under lights.
