Camera Rentals

ARRI, RED, Sony, Blackmagic. Cinema bodies, documentary workhorses, and the mirrorless cameras that sneak onto every B-unit. We rent them as complete, prepped packages out of NYC, Philadelphia, and Pittsburgh, never as a bare body in a case with a handshake. Tell us the job and we’ll build the cart.

Past this point: homework we did so Google would let you find us.

Cinema Camera Rentals Without the Guesswork

The camera is the least interchangeable thing on the truck, so this is the rental decision people sweat over most. Fair enough. Here’s how we walk customers through it at the counter.

Which cinema camera should I rent?

Match the body to the deliverable, not the spec sheet. Commercials and narrative work skew ARRI Alexa 35 for the color science and highlight rolloff. Documentary and corporate jobs lean Sony FX6 or FX9 for autofocus and internal NDs. RED bodies earn their place when post wants resolution headroom for reframing or VFX.

If you’re torn between two bodies, ask us for side-by-side footage or book a prep day and shoot a chart with both. Choosing from a spreadsheet is how people end up fighting a menu system for twelve hours a day.

What comes in a camera package?

Body, viewfinder, baseplate and rods, power, media, and the cage hardware that holds it together. From there we add what the job needs from camera accessories: matte box, follow focus, wireless video, monitoring. Glass is its own conversation, and our lens department is most of the building.

How much does a cinema camera rental cost?

Mirrorless and prosumer bodies start under $200 a day. Documentary cameras like the FX6 sit in the middle hundreds, and flagship packages, an Alexa 35 with viewfinder and media, run $1,400 to $2,400 a day depending on configuration. Weekly rates work out to roughly three or four day-rates, which is why most productions book the week.

Do I need insurance to rent a camera?

For high-value packages, yes, expect to provide a certificate of insurance. Short-term production policies are easy to get online now and usually cost less than a day of the rental itself. Send your COI ahead of pickup and the paperwork takes minutes instead of holding up the van. First time dealing with insurance? Call us, we walk people through it weekly.

The prep day is the cheapest day

Serious productions build their camera package in our prep bays the day before: scrub the firmware, set the frame lines, shoot the chart, balance the head and sticks, label the cases. An AC who has touched every bolt on the rig moves faster on day one, and faster ACs make happier producers. Prep space comes with the package. Browse bodies in the interactive catalog or request a quote with your dates and we’ll hold the camera while you sort the rest.
