Sony PXW-FX9 Camera Package

The Sony PXW-FX9 from Lightbulb Rentals features a full-frame, oversampled 6K Exmor R CMOS sensor that delivers cinematic depth of field when shooting in 4K. The camera’s robust E-mount, crafted from stainless steel, supports a wide range of E-mount lenses.
For connectivity, the PXW-FX9 offers 12G/6G-SDI and HDMI outputs for 4K video, along with a 3G-SDI output for HD. It includes genlock and timecode support for multicamera setups. The Fast Hybrid AF system provides precise autofocus with 561-point phase-detection, capable of detecting and tracking faces automatically. Internal gyroscopic stabilization enhances image stability, resembling gimbal-like smoothness. Its 4-channel audio recording capability allows simultaneous use of external microphones and internal mics for ambient sound capture.
With a 15-stop dynamic range, the PXW-FX9 supports dynamic HDR and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) for high-dynamic-range shooting. It records in 10-bit 4:2:2 onto dual XQD media card slots, supporting simultaneous and relay recording, as well as various backup modes utilizing proxy files. Recording formats include UHD (3840 x 2160) and HD (1920 x 1080) at frame rates up to 60 fps in XAVC-I, XAVC-Long, and MPEG HD formats. Its 7-stop electronic variable ND filter operates in auto or manual mode, smoothly adjusting density from 1/4 to 1/128.
The default S-Cinetone color profile delivers a soft, vivid tone akin to Sony’s VENICE camera. Enhancing its versatility, the FX9 features dual base ISO settings of 800/4000, extendable to a maximum ISO of 102,400 for challenging low-light conditions or when using slower lenses. Recent firmware updates have introduced improvements such as enhanced white balance under sunlight, user-created 3D LUT support, refined autofocus functionality, audio enhancements, USB tethering, T-value metadata support, password protection features, and an S35 2K imager scan mode.
Included accessories are an integrated Multi-Interface (MI) shoe, BP-U35 battery, BC-U1A battery charger, AC adapter with power cord, body cap, viewfinder, eyepiece, remote control, and USB cable. The PXW-FX9 is also compatible with the XDCA-FX9 extension unit (sold separately), which adds ENG shoulder-style support, networking capabilities, and an optional slot for wireless audio receivers.
