The Sony PXW-FS7M2 from Lightbulb Rentals is a versatile 4K camera system designed for a wide range of productions including documentaries, reality TV, commercials, and corporate videos. It features a Super 35mm sized sensor that delivers cinematic depth of field, capturing images with superb clarity. The camera includes a robust locking E-mount compatible with E-mount lenses and supports all electronic connections. Adjacent to the lens mount, an electronic variable ND system offers a clear filter and three user-defined presets, providing ND adjustments from 2 to 7 stops. Footage can be recorded onto optional XQD media cards in DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) or UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) at up to 59.94 fps, or in HD at up to 180 fps. Recording formats include XAVC-I, XAVC-L, or MPEG-2. XAVC-I and XAVC-L support 4K and HD recording, with XAVC-I providing Intra-Frame compression and 10-bit 4:2:2 color depth for both HD and UHD. MPEG-2 is limited to HD recording. The camera features dual XQD media card slots for simultaneous or relay recording. The 4K Super 35 EXMOR sensor offers 14 stops of dynamic range and a wide color gamut. XAVC codec options (Intra and Long GOP) allow efficient encoding from HD to UHD, maintaining high quality with modest bit rates. XAVC Long extends recording time while ensuring low noise and excellent image quality. The FS7 supports two signal processing modes: Cine-EI and Custom. Cine-EI provides three color grading spaces suitable for electronic cinematography, while Custom mode supports Rec-709 and Rec BT-2020 at UHD 3840 x 2160 with YCbCr color subsampling. Monitoring options include HDMI 10-bit 4:2:2 output with a 709 monitor LUT applied, or SDI at 10-bit 4:2:2.
